By Ginna Young
Two area adults are charged with reckless homicide, after they are accused of a part in an incident March 11.
Casey Schueneman, 43, Holcombe, is charged with a Count of Reckless Homicide/Deliver Drugs, as Party to a Crime, and two Counts of Bail Jumping-Felony. Schueneman waived his right for counsel when appearing in court April 4, preferring to defend himself at that time, but did request the case be transferred to federal court, which was denied.
A $50,000 cash bond was issued and Schuenemanwas ordered to report for pre-trial monitoring. As part of the bond, he is not to possess or consume any illegal drugs; not to possess any drug paraphernalia; not to possess or consume any prescription drugs not prescribed; not to possess syringes, unless medically required; not to associate with anyone involved in illegal drug activities; and to have no contact with co-defendant Crystal Krouse or another witness.
At a review hearing April 10, Kirby Harless and Katherine Cook were appointed as Schueneman’s counsel, with the defense requesting the court modify the cash bond to a signature bond, to allow their client to participate in mental health treatment. That request was denied and Schueneman has a competency hearing set for June 21.
Krouse, 36, Conrath, faces a Count of Reckless Homicide/ Deliver Drugs, as Party to a Crime, and a Count of Bail Jumping-Felony. She was issued a $10,000 cash bond, and as part of that, is not to possess or consume any illegal drugs; not to possess any drug paraphernalia; not to possess or consume any prescription drugs not prescribed; not to possess syringes, unless medically required; not to associate with anyone involved in illegal drug activities; and to have no contact with co-defendant Schueneman or another witness.
A review hearing for Krouse is scheduled for May 23.
