Students are the best at Cornell, thanks to staff

Cornell is among the 2024 Best Elementary Schools and Best Middle Schools rankings, according to U.S. News, which included the district in their recent report. As such, Cornell earned a Best Elementary Schools badge and a Best Middle Schools badge, because they place among the top 40 percent in the state.
“The students, parents, teachers and staff, should all be proud of the academic honors earned in the Cornell School District,” said superintendent Paul Schley. “Everyone plays a part in this achievement, with high expectations at home and school, quality instruction and appropriate interventions.
There are many parts to the success of Cornell’s students, which includes the after-school program that helps students complete their homework and obtain additional support, as needed.
“We have a longer school day and more school days in our annual calendar, than many districts, to spend more time teaching and learning,” said Schley. “However, the most significant reason why the Cornell School District does well academically, is the firm commitment of the staff to be the best they can be, individually and as a team.”
Professional development at Cornell, goes well beyond the school day and school year, with teachers and paraprofessionals putting in extra time, to improve their skills during the evening, on weekends and throughout the summer.
“This dedication is what makes the biggest difference and drives our success,” said Schley.
