Homecoming arriving for Cadott with a helping hand
By Ginna Young
Normally, Cadott’s High School students are hard at work the Monday morning of Homecoming week, and this year, that will still be true – but in a new way.
“This year, we want to give back,” said art teacher Dalan Hartmann.
That day, Monday, Sept. 25, from 8:30-10:30 a.m., instead of decorating floats or hallways with festive scenes, students will spend the time volunteering in the community, such as raking leaves, piling firewood, moving boxes, painting fences, etc. During the two-hour time period allotted for the volunteer efforts, kids will be grouped in their homerooms, with a teacher as a supervisor, before they set out for the work time.
Although there are some tasks that the students can complete at school to help the hard-working custodians, Hartmann knows there are those outside the school who can benefit from some teen help.
“If you live within walking distance of the school, and would like some help or know someone who could use some help, please let me know…” said Hartmann.
To get on the help list, contact Hartmann, at hartmannd@ cadott.k12.wi.us or 715-289-3795, ext. 14205.
It won’t be all work and no play for the kids, and since Homecoming week runs from Sept. 25-29, there will be plenty of fun times for the kids. The week kicks off with the court announced that Monday, and the crowning of the king and queen taking place that Friday, at the 2 p.m.
pep rally/assembly.
A parade follows the rally at 2:30 p.m., Friday, starting at the high school athletic entrance, following along East Mills, Main, Ginty and Maple streets, before ending up back on East Mills and ending at the high school.
And, of course, there’s the big game to look forward to, as Cadott hosts Spring Valley and wants to see the stands filled with support for the Hornets.
