Lake Holcombe earns the hat trick for sportsmanship
For the third year in a row, Lake Holcombe is a recipient of the WIAA Award of Excellence. The award promotes and recognizes, the efforts and achievements of schools in the areas of sportsmanship, ethics, integrity, leadership, character and accomplishment.
“Receiving the WIAA Excellence Award shows we are doing some of the little things right, to make the big things happen,” said Lake Holcombe athletic director Todd Senoraske. “With the coaching staff we have in place, along with the great hires this summer, makes me believe some really good things will happen this year. We are lucky to have a staff that cares a lot about our kids.”
The Student-Athlete Leadership group has also grown tremendously, making a positive impact on the athletic program, school and community. A good sign has also been the ability to book officials for nearly all the contests this year, which is no easy feat, considering the official shortage.
There’s always room for improvement and to keep growing, but the three-peat award shows Lake Holcombe is going in the right direction.
“Last year, I received numerous compliments, regarding many of our student-athletes’ and event workers’ good sportsmanship, and the overall good spirit from our fans,” said Senoraske. “I am grateful for that. Working to embrace the spirit of good sportsmanship and competitive greatness, is a good way to keep people coming back.”
