Community invited to ATV rally and street dance

The Cornell ATV/UTV rally show and street dance returns for its third year, Saturday, Aug. 26. The annual event is hosted by the Cornell Area ATV Riders and Huddle Up Pub.
The festivities begin at 3 p.m., with a show. Sandy Schecklman, club secretary, says people do not need to be a club member to bring their machines and there is no entry fee, though people do need to register their machine, in order to be eligible for a trophy. There is also no cost to view the machines as a spectator.
“The public is welcome,” said Schecklman. There are no categories for the show, so trophies will be awarded to the three machines deemed Best in Show.
“Whatever they find most interesting,” said Schecklman. “New, old, vintage, doesn’t matter.”
She says they need time for the judges to look over the ATVs/UTVs and make their choices, so the trophies will be awarded around 5 p.m.
There will also be food and beverages available for purchase throughout the day. Raffle tickets were available for purchase at local businesses, ahead of the rally, and the drawings will take place at 8 p.m., that day.
This year, the rally organizers decided not to ask for donations for the event. The ATV club and Huddle Up Pub are going to share the costs, of hosting the rally and dance. All proceeds from the event support recreational needs in the community.
The club raises money for trail maintenance, new trails and signage.
The Cornell Area ATV Riders also give back to the community through charitable giving. Schecklman says they don’t have any specific plans they are fundraising for, right now.
“It depends on what the community needs,” said Schecklman.
Schecklman says the ATV club will likely do something again for Christmas.
“We do that every year,” said Schecklman. Recently, the club donated to the Stacker Fund, National Night Out and a regional meeting.
Live music by Zero Below Band will take place on Main Street, from 4-8 p.m., where people are invited to join in a street dance. Reflections of Sound DJ/karaoke will provide music in Huddle Up Pub, from 8 p.m. until midnight.
“We hope that people come out for this one and the weather holds out,” said Schecklman.
