Although far too humble to want a fuss made over, Cadott native Tricia (Crank) Dresel is getting one, nonetheless, with her induction this August, into the Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association (WVCA) Hall of Fame. Dresel graduated from Cadott High School in 1991, then jumped right into coaching at her alma mater that fall.

Acting as head coach of the Hornets from 1997-2007, Dresel helped lead her team to six conference championships (1995, 1996, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002), seven Regional championships (1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001), two Sectional championships and two State appearances, in 1996 and 1999, where the Hornets finished in second place.

“My fondest memory was in 1999, when we qualified for the State tournament,” said Dresel. “That team had such a great work ethic and was so dedicated, that they well-surpassed the expectations for the season.”

She then went on to coach the Menomonie High School team from 2008-11, before retiring to focus on her family, who so loyally supported her throughout her career. Dresel finished with a 397-186 record from Cadott, and over 400 wins combined, between the two high school teams.

Over the years, some of the most important things for Dresel on the court, were sharing her passion for the game, with the many athletes she coached and building up the program at Cadott. She also served as the treasurer of the WVCA for 18 years, and now can join them in her new capacity, as a hall of famer.

“I cherished the opportunity to serve for such an amazing organization,” said Dresel.
