For the last couple years, the Cornell Area ATV Riders Club has hosted an ATV/UTV rally at Mill Yard Park, consisting of music, food, prizes and a ride around the area. This year, the location and scale of that event is set to change, as reported on by club member and newly sworn in Cornell City Council member Sandy Schecklman April 18.
The club was planning their event, but discovered another club has one in the works for the same day in Jim Falls.
“We can’t compete with it,” said Schecklman. With the Cornell club unable to book Mill Yard Park for another date that works for them, they decided to move it to Main Street, if the council is on board with it. With approval, the rally will be held Saturday, Aug. 26, with the road blocked off from Second Street to Third Street, to allow for a street dance.
“Unless the other businesses want to get on board, that would be great,” said Schecklman.
The other council members had no objection, so the club can get raffle tickets ordered and continue with their plans.
