As the summer inches ever closer to fall, those who would like to give students a helping hand in the 2022-23 school year, are encouraged to start thinking about school supplies. Area schools, businesses and organizations are holding school supply drives, to help students get off to a good start.

Cadott

The Cadott School District will begin accepting school supply donations after Monday, Aug. 1.

Karita Harvey, administrative assistant, says some of the greater needs are glue sticks, Ziploc bags, facial tissues, pens, pencils, markers, Expo markers, notebooks, plastic folders and scissors for all ages.

There will also be a donation drive benefiting families at Proweld Fab and Auto.

“I feel with the price of everything, people in our Cadott community/surrounding areas, could use the help,” said Brittany McIlquham, Proweld Fab and Auto.

McIlquham is looking for donations of glue, glue sticks, pens, pencils, colored pencils, markers, crayons, highlighters, notebooks, folders, backpacks, art boxes, erasers, pencil sharpeners and rulers.

“Last year, we were able to give away 125 backpacks filled with school supplies,” said McIlquham, adding last year’s success, encouraged her to hold the school supply drive again.

Those who would like to donate, can contact McIlquham, at 715-226-0890, or drop off donations at Proweld Fab and Auto, 23115 County Hwy. X, Cadott, during business hours.

McIlquham says they are planning to give away the filled backpacks at the shop Saturday, Aug. 27, from 1 p.m. until gone.

Cornell

Those looking to help out Cornell students and teachers, are able to donate school supplies at the Cornell Elementary School, Mondays through Wednesdays, from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

School supply lists for the 2022-23 school year, by grade, are available online, at cornell.k12.wi.us/wp-content/uploads/ 2022/07/School-Supplies.pdf. Monetary donations are also accepted.

Lake Holcombe

School supplies can also be dropped off at the Lake Holcombe School, Mondays through Thursdays, from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

Shelley Lee, Lake Holcombe School, says some of the most-needed items are crayons, markers, pens, pencils, Kleenex, gallon and sandwich-sized Ziploc bags, folders, lunch boxes, zipper pouches, pencil cases and crayon boxes.

“At this time, we have a large supply of backpacks and notebooks,” said Lee.

Monetary donations are also accepted. The Lake Holcombe Leos Club is also hosting their annual school supply drive. Jane Ash, Leos adviser, says donations can be dropped off at the Lions’ pavilion Wednesday, Aug. 3, from 4-6 p.m.

“We will take any of the standard school supplies, but also including 3-inch binders, boxes of Kleenex, headsets, black dry erase markers and dry erase erasers,” said Ash.

Ash says the group will also accept monetary donations, to be used for the purchase of any other supplies that are needed.
