School supplies needed for students and classrooms

With the school year fast approaching, area schools and local businesses are accepting donations of school supplies, to get students off to a good start for the 2020-21 school year.

As part of that, the Cadott School District will accept supplies this year.

“As in the past, we can use notebooks, folders, packs of crayons and markers, glue sticks, pencils, pens and school supply bags/totes,” said Terri Goettl, Cadott Elementary School principal.

The supplies can be dropped off at the school, anytime between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., starting Aug. 3.

Goettl also added there will be no sharing of school supplies this year, to limit the spread of COVID-19.

Kromrey Chiropractic, Cadott, is also hosting a school supply drive this year. People can drop off items during business hours in August. There will be a box in the waiting room of the business for people to leave their donations.

They are asking for any of the basic school supplies.

“Just basic pens, pencils, notebooks, folders, glue, crayons, just the basics,” said Erica Bertrand, Kromrey Chiropractic.

Clorox wipes and similar products would also be appreciated, though Bertrand says she realizes the wipes can be diffi cult to find.

“We did a school supply drive last year, and it was very successful and helped out our community,” said Bertrand. “We’re looking forward to doing it this year.”

The Cornell School District is also accepting donations at the school. The district will let the supplies sit for a week, before distributing them to students to limit the spread of COVID-19.

“Flash drives are something that we are really needing this year,” said Kylee Kurth, administrative assistant. “And reusable water bottles.”

Other supplies needed are notebooks, folders, pencils, pens, glue sticks and erasers.

Lake Holcombe School is also accepting school supply donations.

“We definitely would accept any type of donations, school supply donations,” said Pam Starkey, the principal’s assistant.

Starkey says pencils, facial tissues, hand sanitizer and Ziploc bags were some of the items suggested people give, by the school staff.

The donated items can be dropped off at the school, but people are asked to call ahead before bringing their donations.

“Just to make sure that someone is here and available to accept the donation,” said Starkey.
