Colby Puller’s Club earns WTPA “Pull of the Year” honor
The Colby Puller’s Club was awarded the Wisconsin Tractor Pulling Association’s “Pull of the Year” award for the Pulling for Youth, Hunger and Health Tractor Pull the club put on August 19-20 of this year. This is the club’s third WTPA Pull of the Year award since the club started putting on WTPA and NTPA pulls in 2018.
The event featured truck and tractor pulls on both nights and hosted country singer Chris Kroeze on August 19 who performed in front of a large crowd.
The event put trucks and tractors from the WTPA and NTPA on display for specatators all while doing it for a good cause. The money from the pull goes toward scholarship funds for high schoolers, towards other school programs and programs within the community.
The club has also earned the region 3 NTPA Pull of the Year award in 2019 and Oestreich was voted as promoter of the year that season as well. Last year, the club also won the WTPA Pull of the Year award and with this year’s honor, the club has earned that billing three out of the four years they have been doing the pull.
“Obviously, not everybody cares about truck and tractor pulling but it’s been my world, forever,” Oestreich said. “To be able to put Colby on the map for that sort of stuff is a big deal.”
Oestreich said events like the pull would not be an option if not for the team of 50 or so volunteers or the overwhelming amount of support the club gets from sponsors.
“The cool thing about the award is that it’s not just an award for the puller’s club,” Oestreich said. “It’s an award for all of our sponsors, all the businesses that help, all the people that get involved – Colby Trailblazers, Central Fire, Colby Show Choir – it’s a representation of that whole group.”
“It might say Colby Puller’s Club on the plaque, but that encompasses a lot of people and a lot of businesses,” Oestreich said. “It’s something I’m so proud of. I can’t express enough gratitude for that.”
Although the 2022 Pull for Youth, Hunger and Health was a massive event, Oestreich said the club has big things planned again for next year as it is looking at making the pull a regional pull which encompasses Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and South and North Dakota.
