Three-vehicle crash snarls traffic north on STH 107

A three-vehicle accident shortly before 4 p.m. last Wednesday, Dec. 7, forced the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department to close STH 107 north of Marathon for 2-1/2 hours.

Tammy Beighley, 50, of Marathon, was driving her red 2018 Ford Escape southbound on STH 107 when she crossed the center line and struck the rear of a white 2022 GM Sierra pickup truck owned by Twin Forest Products and driven by John Lawrence, 42, of Marathon, according to the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department crash report.

Lawrence was driving northbound on STH 107 when he swerved to the right to avoid Beighley’s vehicle hitting him. The pickup truck entered the east ditch on STH 107. The vehicle accident occurred at 230259 STH 107 near the intersection of Highland Drive in the town of Stettin.

Beighley continued driving southbound on STH 107 and she hit the front end of a black 2017 Hyundai Sonata driven by Jacob Knoblock, 29, of Merrill, who was driving northbound on STH 107 with his passenger, Mark Hamsing, 44, of Athens, according to the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department crash report. Police did not suspect Beighley was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Beighley, Knoblock and Hamsing were suspected to sustain serious injuries in the crash and they were transported by ambulance to Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Lawrence had no apparent injury from the crash. The Marathon County Sheriff’s Department cited Beighley for operating left of the center line.
