Unity murder featured on “Dateline”

The previously unsolved mystery of Unity resident Kenneth Juedes’s death was featured on NBC’s “Dateline” on Nov. 11.

The story of the 2006 murder ran for a two-hour time period and covered the ins and outs of the murder and subsequent court proceedings using documentation by law enforcement and court officials and interviews of those involved.

The documentary also shows various sites of interest for the story including the farm where Ken and his wife lived and the old Monster Hall racetrack.

Juedes’s wife, Cindy Schulz-Juedes was sentenced to life in prison earlier this year.

Schulz-Juedes told two sets of neighbors that morning that her husband was found lying on the bed, covered in blood. An autopsy revealed Juedes had been shot in the chest twice with a 20-gauge shotgun.

A 13-year investigation ensued as investigators tried to piece together stories and details to find the killer. The culmination of the investigations led to Schulz-Juedes.

She was arrested for Ken’s murder on Nov. 27, 2019. Prosecutors noted in a December 2019 hearing that Schulz-Juedes had multiple motivations to commit the crime.

The documentary starts out with host Lester Holt describing the crime as the “Murder on the Farm.”

The show dives into the evidence that led to the result of Schulz-Juedes being charged and convicted of the crime but also opens questions about the investigation.

The episode can be seen on NBC’s website or can be viewed with a subscription to NBC’s streaming service, Peacock.
