Shooting suspect arrested

A man is in custody after he reportedly admitted to shooting a 32-year-old woman in the parking lot of La Botana bar in Abbotsford early Sunday morning.

The Colby-Abbotsford Police Department responded to a report of two gunshots at 1:39 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 19. A woman with a gunshot wound to her abdomen was found at La Botana, and she was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the CAPD. The alleged shooter, Ricardo Morales-Morales, was identified by the victim, and after several hours of searching, he was apprehended and questioned. According to the CAPD, he confessed to shooting the victim.

The suspect was arrested for endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapons and transported to the Clark County Jail.

“Several witnesses left prior to police arriving on scene,” wrote police chief Jason Bauer in a press release. “We ask anyone who witnessed the events leading up to the shooting to contact our department anytime.”
