Norma Jean Strebig
1946-2024
Norma Jean Strebig, 78, of Medford, town of Hammel, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024 at Our House Memory Care in Wausau, and while under the care of St. Croix Hospice. She was born March 17, 1946 in Medford to Al and Margaret (Dohm) Ruesch. She graduated from Medford High School in 1964.
On Dec. 31, 1964, Norma Jean married her high school sweetheart, Chuck Strebig. They resided in the town of Hammel where they owned and operated a dairy farm and where they raised their eight children.
Norma Jean enjoyed watching all sports and attended many of her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. She also loved watching football and cheering on the Packers. She liked to keep busy and was often found in the kitchen baking something delicious or working in one of her beautiful gardens. She and Chuck loved polka dancing and listening to music.
She will be missed by her husband of nearly 60 years, Chuck, of Medford; children, Tim Strebig, Anne (Scott) Butkus, all of Medford, Jill (Chad) Austin of Wausau, Susie (Mike) Nicks of Medford, Paula (Joseph) Malocha of Chicago, Ill., Janie “Jake” (Mike) Grunwald of Medford, Katie (Pete) Colwell of Wausau, Charli (B.J.) Baker of Brighton, Colo.; siblings, Elaine (Jim) Greiner, Margie Julius, Jon (Clea) Ruesch; 17 grandchildren, Michelle (Taylor), Brooke (Nick), Maggie (Klayton), Cody (Kelley), Kyle (Logan), Kasee, Alex (Karson), Tori, Elliot, Chett, Emett (Paige), Ellee (Jackson), Collin, Olivia, Anna, Graci, and Bennett; five great-grandchildren, Avri, Ayden, Grayson, Quinn and Ellowyn; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother-in-law, Wyman Julius.
A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 15, 2024 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Fr. Patrick McConnell officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Medford.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., Friday at the church.
Memorials are appreciated and will be designated by the family at a later date.
