Woman in court on dog death charges

A former Greenwood woman made an initial appearance in Clark County Circuit Court last week to face 12 misdemeanor charges of intentionally failing to provide food for confined animals. The charges stem from a late March discovery of several dead dogs at a rental property northwest of Greenwood.
Marianne Harris, 40, whose address is now listed in court records as Menomonie, was in court in Neillsville on Dec. 6 where she stood mute to the charges against her. The court entered a not guilty plea on her behalf and scheduled a pre-trial conference in her case for Dec. 26.
The criminal complaint filed against Harris in mid-October alleges that she failed to feed several dogs in her care between September 2017 and March 2018. Deputies who responded to a report of garbage accumulation and “multiple deceased dogs” at the home Harris was renting at N11447 County Highway O discovered several dead animals, and Harris admitted to finding dead dogs due to cold weather.
