Rock Creek bridge replacement coming in 2019

The initial planning stages have begun for replacement of the Rock Creek bridge between Greenwood and Loyal, with actual construction set to take place in the summer of 2019. One of the first steps will be a public informational meeting scheduled for Feb. 6, at 7:30 p.m., at the Beaver Town Hall, W3742 Capital Road.
The well-used bridge was partially repaired two years ago when an inspection found its iron framework could no longer support adequate traffic weights. New beams were installed on the west end of the bridge, but its condition is still such that it was moved ahead on Department of Transportation replacement schedules. The job is in the planning stages now, with the Feb. 6 meeting to ask the public for input on preliminary design aspects.
Town of Beaver Chairman Mitch Malm said plans now call for replacement of the bridge in its current location, with some reconstruction of local roads to improve an awkward intersection. The bridge now sits near the Owen Road/Rock Creek Road intersection, with uncontrolled intersections on either side.
