Rizzi pleads no contest in murder-for hire case
Porscha Rizzi of Spencer pleaded no contest on Monday to one count of conspiracy to commit first-degree intentional homicide and will be sentenced on Sept. 22 for her part in the plot to hire someone to kill her two former boyfriends. Rizzi’s mother and alleged accomplice in the scheme, Shari Klimmer of Spencer, will be sentenced on Aug. 24 for her part in the crime.
Rizzi, 22, appeared in Clark County Circuit Court on Monday with her attorney, public defender Robert Thorson, for a plea hearing. In exchange for Rizzi entering the no contest plea and waiving her right to a jury trial, Clark County District Attorney Lindsey Boon Brunette agreed to dismiss a second felony count of conspiracy to commit first-degree intentional homicide as well as a charge of violating a court order barring Rizzi from having any contact with the victims of the murder-for-hire plan. The plea agreement includes no recommendations for sentencing, so both Boon Brunette and Thorson can ask the court for any sentences they see fit. Those arguments will be made at the Sept. 22 sentencing hearing.
