Loyal won’t address dim Main Street light concerns

According to feedback from Loyal city residents, the lighting on Main Street is not as bright as it was prior to the 2017 street reconstruction project. However, with all funds for the project exhausted, the city is not going to address it for now.
The city Council at an April 17 monthly meeting decided against spending an estimated $500-$800 per Main Street pole to install new light fixtures that might increase the brightness. Mayor Dave Williams said the new lights that were installed as part of last year’s 7-month reconstruction project meet all state standards, and it would be the city’s financial responsibility for any improvement.
Williams said he met last week with contractors of last year’s project who still have some landscaping and other details to complete this year. The target date to have all those items finished is June 1.
