Granton residents pick pool renovation option
After months of meetings about options, project scope, costs and tax impact, residents of the Granton area have decided what should be done with the swimming pool at the Granton Area School District. By means of a survey, the public narrowed down from five options the project that will be on the referendum on Oct. 10, selecting the $1.8 million option to repair the existing pool and renovate adjacent locker rooms and restrooms.
The results of the survey were revealed to the School Board by representatives of CESA 10 at its meeting on July 10. On the survey, residents had the option of renovating the existing pool for $1.8 million (Option 1), repurposing the pool for $1.6 million (Option 2), building a new pool for as much as $4.3 million (Option 3), demolishing the pool and updating the locker rooms for up to $1.6 million (Option 4), or to demolish the pool for up to $990,000 (Option 5).
