Three injured in Wednesday accident in Eaton

A car driven by Kionna Slater of Marshfield was heavily damaged during an accident Feb. 3 on STH 73. An inured passenger was trapped inside until emergency crews arrived.

Clark County authorities are investigating a two-vehicle accident Feb. 3 that resulted in the closing of STH 73 north of Christie. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call, at about 7:44 a.m., of an accident on STH 73 north of Bobwhite Road in the Township of Eaton.
Initial investigation indicates that a car driven by Kionna Slater, 24, was north bound on STH 73 when a truck ahead of her caused her to brake. Kionna then lost control of her vehicle and started to spin.
A full-sized van driven by Mavis Liebzeit, 80, was driving south on STH 73 with five occupants including special needs children. The van then struck the north bound car. Three children in the van were hurt with non-incapacitating injuries. The van came to rest in the west ditch, and the car came to rest in the middle of the roadway, facing west after striking a passing vehicle’s trailer.
A passenger in the car, Brian Slater, 26, was trapped inside with incapacitating injuries. STH 73 was blocked for about 90 minutes while crews removed the vehicles.
Kionna and Brian are from Marshfield and the occupants in the van are from the Greenwood and Loyal area. All the occupants in the van and car were wearing restraints and/or seatbelts.
The Neillsville Area Ambulance and Fire Department, Greenwood Area Ambulance Service, crews from the Spirit Ambulance service and the Clark County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office is continuing the investigation into the crash.
