Loyal’s better-late-than-never tendency continues
If the Loyal baseball team’s intention this spring is to prematurely age veteran head coach Greg Brock, it’s doing a good job of it. Once again on April 22, the Greyhounds played a mostly sleepy first half of a game, then rallied at the last minute to grab a win and remain undefeated on the season at 8-0.
The victim this time was rival Greenwood, which held a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning and still had a 1-run edge as Loyal withered down to its final two outs before striking. The Greyhounds tied the game in the bottom of the seventh inning on Riley Geiger’s 1-out, first-pitch home run to straightaway left field, then won it on a walk, a hit and a Greenwood defensive error.
