King qualifies for D3 state field

Spencer junior Nadia King runs to a sixth-place individual finish at the Oct. 25 Division 3 Athens sectional cross country meet to qualify for the Nov. 1 state run in Wisconsin Rapids. The Rocket girls team placed seventh in the sectional field.

There will be a Rocket in the WIAA Division 3 state cross country meet field.
Spencer junior Nadia King qualified for the state meet on Oct. 25 by placing sixth overall in the 96-runner field at the D3 sectional meet at Athens. Her time of 21:00 was 15 seconds ahead of the pace needed to advance through the sectional.
Phillips junior Ellie Lochner won the girls race in 20:12. Marathon freshman Anna Buchberger was second in 20:16. King finished just three seconds behind fifth-place runner Kaylee Hollatz of Stratford.
Phillips won the team title with 48 points to qualify for state. Stratford took the other state team spot with 96 points, edging out Marathon by a single point. Spencer placed seventh as a team with 144 points, just three behind Edgar.
