Roger Salzwedel, 66, Neillsville, friend to all stranger to none, died on Monday, Aug. 21, 2017, at Marshfield Medical Center. A memorial service was held at 11:30 a.m., on Friday, Aug. 25, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Following the service, a reception was held at the American Legion in Neillsville.
Roger Dale Salzwedel was born on Sept. 17, 1950, in Marshfield, the son of Elroy and Velda (nee Kiddoo) Salzwedel. He graduated from Granton High School in 1968 and became the field operator for the Midwest Industrial Council of Carpenters, working in the area all of his life.
He is survived by four children: Michael (Rayna) Salzwedel of Cameron, N.C., Carmen (Jeff) Schweiger of Loyal, Erin (Jamie) Gardner of Greenwood, and Angela (Coty) Montgomery of Neillsville; nine grandchildren: Zackary, Dacotah, Magnus, Oliver, Roslin, Riggin, Avery, Gavyn and Nolyn; his parents, Elroy and Velda Salzwedel; nine siblings: Linda Scheel, Sandy (Dave) Ellis, Larry (Jackie) Salzwedel, Debbie Rosandich, Susan (Jeff) Ludwig, Jalaine (Steve) Specht, Robin (DuWayne) Zinthefer, William (Jenny) Salzwedel, and Jeff (Melissa) Salzwedel; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, James Scheel; two nephews: Troy and Jamie Scheel; a niece, Nicole Rosandich; and his grandparents.
