David J. Hanson, 70, Marshfield, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully, surrounded by his loving wife and family, on Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. A celebration of Davey’s life was held from 5-8 p.m., on Tuesday, May 9, at Wildwood Park Pavilion in Marshfield. Family committal services and interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery will be held at a later date.
Davey was born on Feb. 27, 1947, to Arthur and Vilas (nee Hass) Hanson of Spencer. He married the love of his life, Marlene A. Blanchard, on March 8, 1980, making their home in Spencer and later moving to Marshfield. He was a lifelong employee of Liberty Homes in Dorchester. Davey enjoyed life to the fullest, but some of his favorite pastimes were bus rides with friends to the casino, riding his mo-ped through the park to feed the ducks, his weekly card games, feeding the birds on his patio, and spending time with dear friends. He will also be remembered for his sense of humor and smile and the woodworking projects he did for his family. His care and compassion for his twin sister, Diane, and his mother-in-law, Marie, stand as a testament to his loving nature.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene; three brothers: Donnie (Karin) Hanson of Florida, DuWayne (Arlene) Hanson of Florida, and Dean (Paula) Hanson of Spencer; his mother-in-law, Marie Blanchard; two sisters-in-law: Germaine Blanchard and Janice Moen; two brothers-in-law: Bob (Mary) Fischer and Jeff Moen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter at birth; his twin sister, Diane; a sister, Delores Caldwell; his father-in-law, Robert Blanchard; five brothers-in-law: Chuck Caldwell, Ed Blanchard, Frederick Blanchard, Christopher Blanchard, and Brian Blanchard; and two nieces and a nephew.
