Fired-up crowd enjoys Colby-Abby battle

Colby’s volleyball team came to Abbotsford’s home gym last Thursday for a regional semi-final — and the Hornets did not leave without putting up a fight that kept the hometown crowds on the edge of their seats.
Abbotsford won the matchup in four sets with scores of 25-15, 20-25, 25-16 and 29-27. The Hornets nearly forced the Falcons into a tiebreaker match in a thrilling comeback attempt, but the home team finished off the win in the fourth set.
This was a much anticipated match for the Falcons as the Hornets defeated them earlier in the season at the Bud Nelson Invite.
“Colby was really starting to turn it on late in the season,” said Falcons coach Lee Schreiber. “We knew this would be a fight to the finish.”
