Rubble pile removed in Dorchester

A backhoe from Steen Construction started removing debris Monday from 127 S. Front St., Dorchester.

A dispute several years in the making between the village of Dorchester and resident Terry Recore may be reaching its conclusion.
Recore is the owner of the property at 127 S. Front St. which, at the most recent village board meeting March 3, was targeted for remediation.
The building that once stood there was declared a public nuisance and torn down in 2013, but attempts to clean up the lot had been unsuccessful until this week.
Last week Wednesday, the board voted unanimously to have the village itself clear the lot if Recore did not finish cleaning it up by March 29.
