Abbyland employee crushed between semis in Curtiss



An Abbyland Foods worker was crushed between two semi-trailers Tuesday morning at the company's facilities in Curtiss, according to press release by the Clark County Sheriff's Department.

The sheriff's department received a 911 call Tuesday morning stating that someone had been backed over by a semi at the Abbyland building in Curtiss. The caller told the dispatch center the victim were breathing but not talking.

When officers arrived on scene, they discovered that someone was crushed between two semi-trailers while one trailer was backing up. The first deputy on scene helped the first responders administer CPR until ambulance personnel arrived and transported them to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. Owen-Withee-Curtiss Fire District Chief Mark Renderman said the actions of the first responding individuals helped give the individual a chance at survival.

Along with the sheriff's department, the Owen-Withee Ambulance, Curtiss First Responders and the St. Joseph’s Hospital ground Spirit Ambulance responded to the scene.

The victim is currently at the St. Joseph’s Hospital in unknown condition. The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of the family members of the accident.
