Abbyland asked to help pay for well project

With the Wisconsin DNR demanding to see progress on its water project, the village of Curtiss has asked Abbyland Foods for $600,000 in interim financing for the next phase of work needed to bring more water into the village.
At last Tuesday’s village board meeting, village president Randy Busse said he and village engineer Mike Davy need to attend an enforcement meeting with DNR officials in Neillsville Sept. 15 to discuss the village’s efforts in addressing an ongoing water shortage.
The village missed an Aug. 1 deadline set by the DNR to increase its water supply so that it has enough to meet current and future demand, which has increased due to recent expansions of Abbyland’s facilities.
