Upgrades considered for Clark County health care center

The graphic shows plans for Phase 1 of a proposed renovation at Clark County Health and Rehabilitation Center near Owen. Phase 2 would include an additional $5.6 million worth of construction.

In a sort of Field of Dreams scenario of “If you build it, they will come,” the Clark County Board of Supervisors will be asked in the next two months to support a $9 million upgrade to the Rehabilitation and Living Center near Owen in hopes of making it more competitive.
If that expansion is approved and itgenerates the expected revenue for the center, a second phase of construction costing an additional $5.6 million is also under consideration.
The construction is needed, according to RLC officials, to entice more higher-paying residents to come live in the facility’s nursing home. The center now has a high percentage of residents under Medicaid coverage, but Medicaid reimbursement rates fall short of the cost of providing services to the residents.
