Velva A. Engel, age 74, of Abbotsford, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015, in a traffic accident.
Velva was born on March 1, 1941, the daughter of Harold and Agnes (Carl) Bach in Marshfield. She was united in marriage to Walter Engel on Sept. 3, 1960, in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 2015. They moved to Abbotsford in 1971.
Velva enjoyed shopping, reading and going to her grandchildren’s ball games.
Velva is survived by two children, Walter J. Engel Jr., Salem, Ore., and Debera Schneider, Racine; one grandson, Shawn Tendeland, Oconomowoc; special family, Manuel (Candi) Gamillo, Manny Jr., Sarah and Fransisco Gamillo; sister, Janet (Jerry) Okane of Madison; a sister-in-law, Kathy Bach of Chili; and a brother, James Bach of Stratford. She is further survived by two sisters-in-law, Darlene Schaperkoetter and Sharon (Charles) Jung of Mascoutah, Ill.; and a brother-in-law, August (Margarett) Engel of Alaska.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; her parents; Walter’s parents; and two brothers.
Funeral services was held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at Zion Lutheran Church in Stetsonville. Reverend James Babler presided. Burial was held in Saint Peter Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of McMillan. Family and friends were welcomed from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford assisted with the arrangements.
