Malinda Victoria Wootos, 96, passed away peacefully at her home in Chicago on Oct. 15, 2016.
Linda was born in Unity on Dec. 30, 1919, and was the daughter of August and Elsie (Peterson) Flink. She was a 1937 graduate of Unity High School.
As a young woman Linda moved to Chicago and made that her home. She married the love of her life, Peter M. Wootos, on Oct. 16, 1942. Together they co-owned Peter-Lin’s Restaurant in Lagrange, Ill. She was a server in many Chicago establishments and retired from Mayor’s Row Restaurant on State Street. The couple loved to travel and dance together.
Linda is survived by many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and special friend and neighbor, James Petrone.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Peter Wootos, on June 3, 2003. She was also predeceased by her parents; and siblings, Lorraine (Gladys), Neva (Kenneth) Binning, Loretta (Warren) Fuller, Walter (Gertrude), Beatrice (Frank) Obernberger, Conrad (Irene), Alice (Bernard) Tesmer and Elroy Flink.
A memorial service was held for Linda and Pete at First United Church of Christ in Colby, on Saturday, Nov. 5, at 11 a.m. The service was presided by Pastor Teri Hanson and internment followed at the Unity Lutheran Cemetery.
