Hildegarde R. Maxam, 94, of Colby, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at The Waterford at Colby.
She was born to William and Alvina Beisner in Dorchester on June 10, 1923. She married Lowell H. Maxam on Jan. 6, 1945, at St. Peter’s Church in Dorchester. He preceded her in death. They bought a farm in the town of Holton and the family was blessed with many children.
Hildegarde is survived by seven daughters, Monica (Dan) Maguire of Wisconsin Rapids, Marlene (Kenneth) Strasser and Tina (Gary) Heeg, both of Unity, Dawn (Jeff) Colvin of Wausau, Sandi (Tony) Bechel of Kronenwetter, Faith (Mark) Heeg of Colby and Lori (Bill) Heindl of Edgar; and two sons, Harvey (Glory) Maxam and Mark (Barb) Maxam, both of Unity. She is further survived by 33 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Hildegarde was preceded in death by one sister, Edith Plockelman
A funeral service for Hildegarde was held on Friday, Aug. 18, at 11 a.m. at First United Church of Christ in Colby. Pastor Doris Ruben presided. Burial followed at Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Visitation took place at First United Church of Christ in Colby on Friday, Aug. 18 from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Hildegarde’s name may be made to Peace United Church of Christ.
