B. Helen Johnson
B. Helen Johnson, 71, a 1965 graduate of Dor-Abby High School, passed away May 18, 2019, in Evansville, Indiana. She was the loving wife of William Ole Johnson, a native of Dorchester, for nearly 49 years.
Services will be this Saturday at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Abbotsford, where the couple was married. Visitation will be held from 9:30-11 a.m. at Marina-Schilling Funeral Home, followed by a memorial Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. Bernard.
Helen was born May 25, 1947, in Tomahawk, Wisconsin, to David and Stella Motelet, and was raised in Abbotsford. A former medical technologist, Helen worked most of her life as a database administrator in the airline manufacturing industry in Wichita. She earned a BS in Medical Technology from University of Wisconsin in Stevens Point, followed by a BS and Master's degree in Computer Science from Wichita State University.
The couple moved to Evansville in 2005, and Helen found her love of teaching local craft and sewing classes soon afterward. She was an active member of St. John's Catholic Church in Daylight, Indiana, where she was a greeter and weekly Eucharistic Adoration volunteer.
Helen is survived by her husband; her three children, Roberta (Eric) Schneider of Greenwood, Indiana; Eric Johnson of Fort Collins, Colorado; and Dr. Rebecca (Wayne) Bills of Lakeland, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Nicole and Aidan Schneider, and Olivia Bills; a brother, Robert Motelet of Fall Creek; step-sisters Nancy Ramminger of Colby and Shirley Majerus of Abbotsford; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
