What if Holton pulls out?

If the town of Holton does not renew its contract with the Abbotsford Fire Department, residents on the south end of the township should still be able to count on a fire truck or ambulance showing up when they dial 911.
But, it’s also possible that the township could see a bill arrive after the fact if Abbotsford’s firefighters are called in for mutual aid.
Cpt. Dale Wisnewski of the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department, which provides dispatch services for Holton and the rest of the county, said fire protection is not in jeopardy for Holton residents.
“There won’t be a lapse in service,” he said. “Who gets billed what will be figured out afterward.”
