Haines has ideas for improving department
Scott Haines, a drug investigator for the Clark County Sheriff’s Department, sees a lot of room for improvement when it comes to how the department is managed. That’s why he’s running against his boss to take over the top law enforcement position in the county.
Running as a Democrat, Haines will challenge incumbent sheriff Greg Herrick, who won the Aug. 12 Republican primary against Dorchester police chief Gary Leichtman.
With a 24-year career in law enforcement, including several years with the sheriff’s department, Haines, who ran for sheriff in 2010, said being elected to head of the department would be a natural transition.
