Law enforcement shuts down road to take drug suspect into custody

A tense situation that put a portion of the Medford area on lock-down Friday ended with a Medford man in custody.
According to sheriff Bruce Daniels, on March 17 traffic on CTH O west of Medford was interrupted due to a “tactical operation related to felony warrants.”
Law enforcement personnel armed with rifles and equipped with stop-sticks to puncture vehicle tires, blocked people from entering or leaving the area until the suspect, Calvin Weiler, 55, was taken into custody without incident.
Weiler had been eluding authorities since October 2016 and was under a felony warrant status related to second-degree reckless endangerment, drug violations, firearms violations and charges related to the manufacturing of methamphetamine.
