Lucille M. Frey

Lucille M. Frey, 95, of Medford, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Aspirus Country Gardens in Medford, where she had resided for the past six and a half years. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 29 at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in Medford with Pastors James Krueger and James Babler officiating. Interment was held at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Visitation was held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday. Pallbearers were her grandchildren, Bobbi Chester, Dan Flaherty, Bill Flaherty, Jennifer Bruns, Austin Frey and Joe Frey.
Lucille was born on April 6, 1924 in Brooks, Minn. to the late Lydia (Grimm) and Alfred Schubert. She attended Medford Elementary Schools and was a 1942 graduate of Medford High School. On July 18, 1942 at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in Medford, she married Vernon J. Frey and he preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 2004. After raising two children on her own, while Vernon was in WWII, they eventually settled on the Frey family dairy farm in the town of Browning. Lucille worked as a homemaker during this time, raising seven children. In the 1990s they moved to the city of Medford, where she continued to enjoy a very active life. She did beautiful embroidering and always loved the occasional trips to the casinos as well as playing cards. She was an avid Packer and Brewer fan and looked forward to the games that she attended with her children. In 2012, Lucille moved to Country Gardens where her passion became bingo. She was a member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in Medford and its Ladies of Immanuel
Lucille is survived by her daughters, Donna Flaherty of Delafield, Pam Frey of Apache Junction, Ariz. and Shelley (Tim) Lidstone of Minnetonka, Minn.; sons, Vernon (Carol), Jr. of Lynchburg, Va., Patrick of San Jose, Costa Rica and John (Claire) of De Pere; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lucille was preceded in death by a son, Randall in 2013; and her siblings, Alvin, Oliver and Lloyd Schubert and Esther Stendel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be given either to Hope Hospice of Medford or Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, Medford.
