Lucille K. Jari, 91, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Aspirus Care and Rehab in Medford, where she had resided for the past two and half years, most recently under the care of Hope Hospice. A funeral service was at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 1 at Community United Church of Christ in Medford with Pastor Mary Jo Laabs officiating. There was also a VFW Auxiliary service held at 9 a.m. that morning. Interment was at Medford Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation was on Monday from 9-11 a.m. at Community United Church of Christ in Medford. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Jason and Jordan Christianson, Craig and Josh Pernsteiner, Rory Doberstein and Zak Lenhard.
Lucille was born on Aug. 6, 1927 at the family home in the town of Little Black to the late Lois (Taylor) and Edward James Milliken. She attended Stetsonville Elementary School and was a graduate of Medford High School. On Oct. 17, 1947 in Dubuque, Iowa she married Victor Jari and he preceded her in death on June 26, 1994. Lucille was one of the original workers at Tombstone Pizza Corp. when they made pizzas in the kitchen on tables. She continued to work there for a period of years until retirement. She was the kitchen chairman for the Medford VFW Club. She was active with Sunny Hills Homemakers and made soup for the kids during the early years of the Medford Area Youth Hockey Association. She enjoyed basket weaving, rosemaling, camping, fishing, crafting and cooking. She was a member of Community United Church of Christ in Medford, a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary No. 5729 in Medford, where she was a past president and a member of Sunny Hills Homemakers.
Lucille is survived by her children, Gloria (Mark) Christianson, Katherine (Peter) Pernsteiner, Bruce Jari, Marlene (Melvin) Doberstein, Russell (Virginia) Jari and Patricia (Darryl) Lenhard, all of Medford; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Lorraine Schmitt of Medford, Joyce Langteau of Seymour and Wayne (Butch) Faude of Boise, Idaho
In addition to her parents and husband, Lucille was preceded in death by an infant son, Paul in 1948; granddaughter, Daisy Pernsteiner King in 2010; and siblings, Clarence Milliken and Frances Paff
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be given to the family for a future designation.
