Linda D. Schmittfranz, 63, Rib Lake, was pronounced dead on Friday, Oct. 17 at Aspirus Medford Hospital emergency room where she had been taken earlier by ambulance. Funeral services were held on Monday, Oct. 20 at Rib Lake United Methodist Church, with Rev. Kyochul Shin officiating. Interment was at Lakeview Cemetery in Rib Lake. Active pallbearers were Travis Wienke, Jared Powell, Andy Carlyle, Kris Brothers, Makayla and Tailor Bohmbach and Lee Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Logan and Molly Schmittfranz, Makenna Powell, and Erin and Evan Bohmbach.
Hemer Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.
The former Linda Eggert was born on June 25, 1951 in Milwaukee to the late Elmer Albert and Delores Pearl (Glenzer) Eggert. She attended town of Greenwood elementary school and was a 1969 graduate of Rib Lake High School.
On June 28, 1969 at Chelsea Catholic Church, she married James "Jim" F. Schmittfranz, who survives. She worked as a housewife and mother, and did home child care for a period of time. She also worked at KFC and Hurd Millwork in Medford, C&G Mini Mart, Gem Products and Great Northern Cabinetry in Rib Lake.
She was a member of Rib Lake United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading, embroidery, crocheting and spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, survivors include three children, Tony (Bobbie Jean) Schmittfranz of Rib Lake, Susan (Joshua) Powell of Crystal, Minn., and A.J. Schmittfranz of Minneapolis, Minn.; three siblings, Janice (Donald) Johnson of Superior, Rod (Jeanette) Eggert of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Donna (Don) Hoefferle of Rib Lake; five grandchildren, Molly and Logan Schmittfranz, and Makenna, Duncan and Hunter Powell; and four honorary grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dawn Marie Eggert.
