Glenn L. Thompson

Glenn L. Thompson, 85, of Gilman, died at the Cornell Care Center on April 24, 2019. A funeral mass was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 29 at Plombon Funeral Home in Stanley. Burial was in Lakeview Cemetery in Chetek. Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday at the Plombon Funeral Home and one hour prior to services on Monday morning at the funeral home.
Glenn was born on June 26, 1933 to the late Herman and Hazel (Topper) Thompson in Sioux Creek in Barron County. He went to a rural school in Barron County until he and his family moved to Gilman in 1947. He attended Gilman High School. Glenn was the second of seven children. He was a farmer all of his life and enjoyed it. Although he had numerous health issues that limited his mobility he enjoyed woodworking in high school and playing cards, with Tic being one of his favorites.
Glen is survived by his sisters, Joyce (George) Eckstrom of Jump River, Donna (John) Backe of Iowa, Wanda Mallo of Gilman and Beverly Broyer of California; one brother, David (LaVonne) Thompson of Gilman; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by a brother Herbert; and his brother-in-law, John Backe.
