Fumiko O. Ziehlke, 93, of Medford, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at Aspirus Care and Rehab in Medford, where she had resided for the past 15 months. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 21 at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford Chapel with Pastor David Clements officiating. Interment of her cremated remains will take place at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Visitation will take place on Friday at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford from 9 a.m. until the time of the services.
Fumiko was born on March 15, 1926 at Kuraray, Japan. She attended Japan Catholic elementary and high schools. She married Henry W. Ziehlke Jr. on May 12, 1954 in Kove, Japan and he preceded her in death June 6, 1990. After her education, she worked as an accountant in a ship building business. After the end of WW II she worked as a bilingual interpreter. After marriage, she moved to the town of Little Black in 1955 and worked the Ziehlke family farm with her husband until retirement in 1985. She enjoyed reading, bird watching, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
Fumiko is survived by her children, Joan Ziehlke of Fayetteville, N.C., Carl (Brenda) Ziehlke of Menomonie, Edward Ziehlke of Owen, Jim Ziehlke of Medford and Ronald (Sandy) Ziehlke of Coppers Cove, Texas; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; one brother
In addition to her husband, Fumiko was preceded in death by her parents, Chiyo (Ogino) and Kyuhichi Kanda; and one sister.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be given to any hospice organization of their choice
