Delbert Ross Sloniker, 91, of Medford, passed away on Thursday, March 9 at his residence in the City of Medford under the loving care of his family and Hope Hospice. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 18 at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Stetsonville with Rev. Richard Russow officiating. Visitation will be at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Stetsonville from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. Interment of his cremated remains will be at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II.
Delbert was born on June 24, 1925 in Greenwood to the late Mildred M. (Schneider) and Ross Sherman Sloniker. he attened Greenwood elementary schools and was a 1943 graduate of Greenwood High School. On June 24, 1949 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal he married Shirley Ann Schaefer and she survives. He worked as a cheesemaker for a period of time while residing in Greenwood and Willard. In 1956 he moved to Stetsonville and managed Farmers Pride Cheese Factory from 1956-1968. he then moved to Medford in 1968 and he worked as a federal inspector inspecting cheese and butter for the USDA until retirement in 1986. Delbert enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, deer hunting, playing cards, 4 wheeling and playing checkers with his great grandchildren. He was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Stetsonville.
In addition to his wife, Delbert is survived by his children, Susan L. Sloniker of Hazelhurst and Gary (Cynthia) Sloniker of Spooner; two grandchildren, Sara (Tom) Kiral of Lewiston, Minn. and Michelle (Housni) Kabdi of Spooner; four great-grandchildren, Emma and Maddie Kiral and Zak and Eli Kabdi; brother, Edward (Florence) Sloniker of Abbotsford
In addition to his parents, Delbert is preceded in death by a son, Mark Sloniker in 2000; and brothers, Verlyn and Kenneth Sloniker.
