David was born on June 7, 1963 in Medford to Frank and Gladys (Nelson) Johnas. He married the love of his life, Nancy “D.D.” Motte on Oct. 3, 2008. They enjoyed every moment they spent together and life will not be the same without David. He loved life more than anything and especially his love for his family and friends.
In 1986, David bought his first dump truck. As owner and operator, he was working for Pitlick and Wick out of Eagle River at the time of his death. In 1999, he purchased logging equipment and started his own logging business which he owned and operated during the winter months with his brother John and nephew Michael. He loved to work and took pride in what he did and had amazing compassion for his coworkers. He was the kind of man that would do anything for anyone and would give the shirt off his back for you. He loved working on “The Ranch”. Nancy and David love the nicknames of each other “Frank and Fran”. He enjoyed fixing machinery, working in the woods, teaching everyone how to waterski and spending time with his wife, daughters, brothers, sisters, grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many friends. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
