Beverly E. Slaby

Beverly E. Slaby, 90, of Stanley, formerly of Gilman, died on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at the Homeplace in Stanley under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the Hannibal Cemetery on Saturday, May 11. Plombon Funeral Service in Gilman assisted the family.
Beverly was born on Aug. 27, 1928 in Stanley, the daughter of the late Lorum and Violet (Sweet) Truax. She grew up in the Hannibal area and later raised her five daughters on her own. Beverly was a waitress for the Gilman Bar Café, worked at Drangle’s Cheese factory and was a CNA for 14 years. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, traveling and loved spending time with family.
Beverly is survived by her daughters, Sue Purkapile of Gilman, Ellen Ingles of Kootenai, Idaho and Nancy (Jeff) Burtard of Post Falls, Idaho; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Karen Phelps and Linda Cole; her brother, Ken Truax; two sisters, Marian Hubbard and Betty Morris; and a son in-law, Ray Purkapile.
