Barbara “Barb” Ann Emmerich died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2019 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday Sept. 14 at Valley Funeral Home in Appleton with Rev. Mike Huff officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Barb was born on May 25, 1949 in Milwaukee, the daughter of the late George and Eleanore (Bykowski) Breitbach. She married James Emmerich on Sept. 27, 1969. Barb and James owned and operated Prime Media Group for many years. She was an avid Brewers fan. Barb enjoyed gardening, cooking and traveling with James. Her greatest enjoyment came from her time spent with family, especially her granddaughter, Emily.
Barb is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, James; their two children, Kristin (Mark) Manteufel of Neenah and Kurt Emmerich of Appleton; her granddaughter, Emily Manteufel; seven siblings, Susan Mackevich of California, George (Ruth) Breitbach, Mary (Richard) Fortier and Daniel Kalinowski, all of Milwaukee, John Breitbach of Fond du Lac, Joe (Julie) Breitbach of Oak Creek and Julie (Jeffrey) Lemens of Franksville; and a brother in-law, Scott Helm.
Barb was preceded in death by her brother, Patrick Breitbach; and sister, Joan Helm.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
Barbara’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital for all of their care and compassion.
