Mary F. Niewolny, 93, Edgar, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Our House, Wausau.
She was born Dec. 21, 1923, in Medford, the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen Schrauth. Mary attended school in the town of Little Black. On June 18, 1947, she married Myron Niewolny at Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford. He preceded her in death on April 4, 1997.
Together, Myron and Mary owned and operated Mike and Mary’s Tavern for many years. Mary loved her family and life itself. She also enjoyed taking trips, walks, flowers, gambling, bowling and playing cards. She climbed the ladder.
Survivors include her children, Jim, Bob, Michael and Karen (Dennis) Dallman; grandchildren, Laurie, Kim, Stacey, Stephanie, Josh and Travis; great-grandchildren, Claire, Brooke, Lucy, Alexander, Aryanna and Mason; one step-great-grandchild, Sara; sisters, Margaret, Lucille, Josephine and Kathryn; and sisters-in-law, Ruth Schrauth and Willy Niewolny.
Besides her parents and husband, Mike, she was preceded in death by a son, Bruce; brothers, Alvin, Aloysious, Bernard, Joey Jr. and Daniel; and sisters, Marcella, Leona and Sister Helen Schrauth.
The funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, at St. John Catholic Church, Edgar. Rev. Thomas Huff presided. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Visitation was on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service, all at the church.
