The Cadott Hornets Wrestling team had three wrestlers competing for their chance at a State title Feb. 23-25. Each Hornet reached above and beyond last year’s statistics, and pushed through to second and third place finishes for the weekend tournament.

“I feel all of the boys wrestled with a lot of heart and determination,” said Cadott head coach Josh Spaeth. “They all gave their best effort and made Cadott proud.”

Junior Andrew Gunderson was up first for the Hornets. He battled Thursday, taking the win with a 3 minute, 30 second pin. Moving forward, Gunderson defeated his opponent in the quarterfinals with a 7-4 decision, but fell in the semi-finals. Gunderson bounced back with a pinfall win, and earned third place after defeating Stratford’s Derek Marten in a 4-2 decision.
