Knights knotch the upset win to stay alive
By Ross Pattermann
The Knights were the lower seed May 23, but did not let that bother them, as they took out the fourth seeded Chetek-Weyerhaeuser Bulldogs. The Cornell-Lake Holcombe baseball co-op turned in one of their most determined performances of the season, with a hard-fought 2-1 road victory in Chetek, in the first round of the WIAA Regional playoffs.
“The boys played a good, all-around game and did what we had to do to win,” said coach John Lee. “Jarred (Jiskra) pitched one of his best games this year.”
Jiskra earned the win from the mound and definitely brought the heat, allowing no earned runs in 6 2/3 innings. Jiskra threw four strike-outs and gave up just three hits.
