Hinzmann State bound once more

Cadott’s Andy Hinzmann (left) and Cornell-Lake Holcombe’s Luke Geist battle it out in the 300-meter hurdles at Cameron Sectionals May 23. The seniors were neck-and-neck for a time, but Hinzmann pulled away to take first place in the event and qualify for State. As for Geist, his high school track career came to an end, as he fell just short of qualifying with his fifth place finish. Photo by Ross Pettermann

Cadott senior Andy Hinzmann will finish out his high school track career May 31-June 1, at the WIAA State meet, with a shot at a place on the podium. Hinzmann qualified to advance, after a first place finish in the 300-meter hurdles, with his time of 40.48, a personal best.

Hinzmann also competed in the triple jump, placing third and qualifying for State (41-06.25), and seventh in long jump (20-06).

“He looks to finish a fantastic year on the podium at state,” said coach Pat Rothbaue.
