Down, but not out for girls basketball

Before their regional matchup with Boyceville Feb. 21, the Cadott girls took on the team in a non-conference game. The first competition was a huge upset for the Hornets, and for Thursday’s Regionals, Cadott head coach Dave Hazuga said he knew the game would be a challenge, but that he was sure the girls would be more prepared this time around.

Cadott started with stronger scoring, but Boyceville held a 25-point lead by halftime. The Hornets were determined to not give up, and saw improvement in the second half.

“Offensively, the girls executed better,” said Hazuga. “We shot a pretty good percentage. But defensively, we weren’t able to keep them down, just like the first time.”
